4-5 years

Our Pre-Kindergarten program is designed to continue the development and growth of the whole child while preparing children for kindergarten. We do this through whole group lessons, small group activities and learning centers. By teaching gross motor skills, music & movement, arts & crafts, organized play, rules & routines and good manners, children will be more than ready for their first year of school!

Teachers Our Pre-K teachers are certified in education and have over 30 years combined experience teaching young children. They are consistent, positive and fun.  We use praise along with positive reinforcement to encourage each child to work to their potential. Our teachers work together to create a comfortable learning environment for each child.

Curriculum Our curriculum is designed to inspire children to create, move and interact. We follow monthly educational units that are broken down to weekly themes and are explored throughout all subject areas. We teach those who are learning, enrich those who are prospering and work with those who are struggling. With a print-rich environment and an abundance of teacher resources every child is able to learn at his own pace.

  • Literacy: We teach children pre-reading strategies such as letter sounds, sight words and word predictions. Phonemic awareness, shared reading and read aloud lessons are taught daily and practiced in learning centers.
  • Math/Science:  We explore concepts of classifying, counting, time, money and weight. Each day provides hands-on opportunities for children to explore nature, water, animals and to increase science vocabulary. Science experiments allow children to explore, discover and record their findings in a variety of scientific topics.
  • Writing Children learn writing skills beginning with letter formation and names. They continue their studies writing beginning sounds, labeling and finally sight words.  By the end of Pre-K we hope each child will write a simple sentence using sight words and pictures.

Friendship and Fun We strive to reinforce values introduced at home such as respect, generosity and honesty. Children practice these values with friends and teachers during lessons, transitions and play time. We use music and fingerplays to reinforce positive behaviors.

Field Trips Fun, educational field trips allow children to explore beyond the classroom and discover new ideas.

Extras Music, Dance, Art and Spanish are integrated within lessons and reinforced daily. Children are encouraged to express themselves creatively in a comfortable environment and are praised for their unique ideas. Children are invited to showcase their talents at the Holiday Program in December. Kindermusik and Dance is offered as an extra curricular activity throughout the year.
